Yet another man has been arrested for causing his partner to suffer an abortion, one she did not want, by sneaking her abortion pills.
While you may think this is a continuation of another instance, one that happened only days ago, it’s not. This is a new case, yet the same thing: a man drugged his partner, causing an abortion. This guy, Emerson Evans, of Normal, Illinois, is being charged with two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child.
“How many women will it take losing their babies due to their partners obtaining abortion pills and figuring out ways to give them to these mothers without their consent to ban abortion pills from our country? Ten, 100, 1,000? These mothers are all grieving because their partners were able to get abortion pills, no questions asked,” said Abby Johnson, CEO and Founder of And Then There Were None and ProLove Ministries.
How Evans Caused an Abortion
Evans’ girlfriend was seven weeks pregnant when she started experiencing distress and was found to have had a miscarriage. It was later discovered that it was the abortion pill that had caused the miscarriage.
Unlike other cases where the partner slips abortion pills into his partner’s drinks, Evans allegedly placed four Mifepristone pills into his girlfriend’s vagina. It is not known where he obtained the pills from, but the proper dosage is one Mifepristone pill, not four. Even the judge commented on this fact during Evans’ hearing:
“Frankly, the number of pills demonstrates a lack of knowledge or consent,” Judge Amy McFarland said at the court hearing.
Legal Repercussions
While abortion is legal in Illinois, the intentional homicide of an unborn child carries a minimum of 20 years in prison for each count.
“Illinois should be commended for having such a law on the books that punishes the intentional taking of life of an unborn child, but that same law also opens the door to the obvious question: why aren’t abortion doctors and women who intentionally take the life of an unborn child also facing consequences?” said Abby Johnson.
The law in Illinois governing the homicide of an unborn baby specifically excludes abortion.
“The law makes zero sense – why is one unborn baby’s life more important than another’s, so much so that killing one has serious consequences and killing the other has zero consequences?” asked Abby Johnson.
Ease of Accessing Abortion Pills
Abortion pills make up over 60% of all abortions in the United States. Why? They are easy to access and cheaper than surgical abortion. They are so easy to access that literally anyone can go online and get them, even for free. Recently, Abby Johnson tested how easy it is to get a hold of abortion pills by going through Aid Access’ website. This is the same company that is being sued for wrongful death for giving abortion pills to a man in Texas that used them to spike the drink of his partner, causing the death of his unborn baby.
“These are only the stories that have made it into the media about men slipping their partners abortion pills. What about all those instances that haven’t? What about those women or young girls in cases of incest and rape? Supporting easy access to abortion pills is the opposite of empowering women,” concluded Johnson.
