Key Points:

  • Planned Parenthood is offering abortion pills in advance to adults in Washington and Hawaii, even if they are not pregnant.
  • Stockpiling abortion pills raises legal, safety, and misuse concerns.
  • Abortion pills can pose significant health risks.

In a twist of events that is not surprising in the least, Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, announced they are implementing its “Just in Case” abortion pill program in Washington and Hawaii, where it will sell abortion pills to anyone aged 18+, no matter whether they are pregnant or not.

“They’re capitalizing on fear-mongering while skirting FDA guidelines. Surprise, surprise,” said Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood director and founder of And Then There Were None and ProLove Ministries.

Legal Issues

Planned Parenthood isn’t the first to encourage stockpiling abortion pills. Oregon, California, Massachusetts, and Maryland have all attempted to do this following recent lawsuits challenging the safety of abortion pills.

The recent case out of Louisiana that initially halted the sale of mifepristone via telehealth appointments sent the abortion industry to its Plan B of misoprostol-only abortion pill kits, which come with a host of serious side effects, including the possibility that the baby would be born alive. Misoprostol-only abortions are horrific and have been used in other countries to induce labor during the second trimester to end the life of the unborn baby. What happens if that baby is still alive when it’s born? What kind of decision will a woman make then? The International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics published a study in 2007 about misoprostol-only abortions in the second trimester, revealing that there can be serious side effects, such as uterine rupture and infection, but also “that fetuses aborted after 20 weeks may show signs of life after abortion.”

The case has since been put on hold by the U.S. Supreme Court as it winds its way through the court system, but it has triggered more panic buying of abortion pills like Planned Parenthood’s Just in Case program.

But stockpiling abortion pills isn’t hard. Literally anyone, pregnant or not, can get them online for whatever reason they want. Abby Johnson tested this out and was able to obtain abortion pills delivered right to her door by answering a few questions online. Time and time again, men who don’t want their partners to be pregnant have drugged them to induce abortions. The ramifications of having abortion pills so easily accessible have led to absolutely terrible outcomes for so many women and their families.

Abortion Pills Are Dangerous

The largest study of women who took the abortion pill, which was released in April 2025, reveals that 1 in 10 women suffer ‘severe adverse events’ such as sepsis, hemorrhaging, infection, or another severe effect within 45 days of taking the pills, according to the Ethics and Public Policy Center.

Even pro-choicers know that the abortion pills carry significant risk. In a survey of 1,600 likely voters last summer, only 16 percent of respondents thought the abortion pill was “ very safe”, direct evidence that the message of pro-abortion activists that the pill is “safer than Tylenol” is failing. A peer-reviewed study also demonstrates that the messaging is untrue, yet this is the first survey to show that it is not resonating.

The abortion pills are indeed dangerous. Firsthand accounts of women who have taken the abortion pill can be found at www.LittlePillsThatKill.com. Abby Johnson’s 2019 film, Unplanned, received an R rating because of the abortion pill scene, which was ironically even less intense and bloody than in real life.

“Promoting advance abortion provision treats women’s bodies and unborn babies as disposable, while normalizing a dangerous abortion culture,” said Johnson. “It’s feckless and irresponsible. Women need to know the truth, not just about how dangerous abortion is, but how valuable they truly are, body and soul. Planned Parenthood views women as cash cows and their babies as trash.”
